Barnack Beauty
Barnack Beauty is one of our largest studio rooms, with plenty of space to relax and unwind. Dominated by a handsome super king sleigh bed and beautiful roll top bath, the room is bright and fresh. The ensuite shower room has a waterfall shower and is fully accessible. The simple shaker style kitchenette is the largest of all our kitchenettes, brightly lit by two windows and provides space for basic self catering. This room can interconnect with the adjoining room-Cox’s Orange Pippin- to provide a fabulous two bedroom apartment sleeping 4. The room faces west across a grassy meadow away from the house and river in the peace and quiet of the Hampshire countryside.

- You have free access to our beautiful gardens every day 10.00am -5.00pm which includes the winter months when we are closed to the general public.
- After the gardens have closed for the day you have exclusive use of our walled garden in the evenings for drinks and dinner.
- If you wake with the lark there is an early morning riverside walk.
- We welcome well behaved four legged friends to our gardens and just ask that they be kept on a lead. Four of our apple rooms- Arthur Turner, D’Arcy Spice, Egremont Russet and Fearn Pippin are dog friendly rooms and we provide a little packet of doggy treats for their arrival.
- Although we are biased and think our garden is the best, there are other lovely gardens to be seen, as well as some fabulous shopping and many exciting tourist attractions to visit in The Test Valley. In the evening, when our gates are closed to the general public, you can pour yourself a delicious cocktail and sip it in the peace and quiet of our stunning walled garden while enjoying your memories of the day and planning the next day’s adventure.
- There is a 10% discount in the adjacent café – check website for opening hours.
- Free access to the garden 10am – 5pm (For the occupants of the room only. Friends and family need to pay in the café.)
- The Boot Inn is only a 10 minute walk away.
- The local market town of Stockbridge is a 5 minute drive. Full of great places to eat from gourmet cuisine and good old fashioned pub grub to curry, pizza, fish ‘n chips and a take away is only a phone call away.
The rooms are adult only, but when we have a wedding party children are very much welcome. We have a cot, camp bed and mattresses to loan you – please let us know at time of booking.
- We are not in a town.
- The kitchenettes are basic.
- The rooms have not got a private outside space although there is plenty of outside seating and you can use the walled garden in the evening when it is closed to the public. We are a wedding venue and so occasionally there may be a private event in the walled garden when we are afraid it will be closed.
- The rooms do not face the river or the garden.
- We do not provide charcoal for the BBQ.
- We have no staff to welcome you.
- We don’t have room service.
- We don’t have housekeeping to turn down your bed or make it in the morning.
- The rooms are in a converted calf byre and not in Houghton Lodge itself.
